make

A command runner whose tasks are Python functions -- shareable as versioned packages.

The mk command: a Makefile.py of plain Python functions, each a task, with its dependencies declared in the file's own PEP 723 header and resolved by uv. Every Optersoft repository is driven by it. Published here -- the name make on PyPI is an unrelated project -- and the successor of mkrun.

Install

uv, in pyproject.toml

[[tool.uv.index]]
name = "optersoft"
url = "https://python.optersoft.com/simple/"
explicit = true

[tool.uv.sources]
make = { index = "optersoft" }

Then uv add make. Its dependencies still come from PyPI.

uv pip

# uv looks at an --extra-index-url FIRST, and stops at the first that has a name
$ uv pip install --extra-index-url https://python.optersoft.com/simple/ make

What a resolver reads is /simple/make/; this is the same list, for a person.
